“Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue…”

CONGRATULATIONS TO LAURA KIMBALL FROM JERICHO: Our Grand Prize winner of a couples massage from the Essex Resort & Spa! … The gift of relaxation is the gift everyone loves—book your appointment at The Spa at The Essex today!

We LOVED all the poems you sent us for Valentines Day, including these winners of a bouquet of flowers from Price Chopper/Market32, a pound of milk and dark deluxe assorted chocolates from Snowflake Chocolates in Jericho & South Burlington, and a $25 gift card to the Healthy Living Market & Cafe, in Williston & South Burlington, to buy anything else you need for a romantic evening:

Sam Boudreau from St. Albans:

Roses are red, violets are blue,
we get up in the dawn to the bitter smell of black brew.

I gaze upon the portrait of a crazed, bedhead view:
a framed Picasso, your eyes’ cerulean hue.

How lucky I am to love the morning parts of you.

Tim Lebeau from Essex:

Roses are Red, Violets are blue
It had been 26yrs since I heard from you

I lived my life with something missing
It came to me that day we were kissing

There’s no doubt or debate
I was missing my soulmate

Now my life is full and complete
because I’m with you my love my sweet

John Bartlett from Milton:

Roses Are Red, Violets are Blue,
Glad COVID isolation meant more time with you!

Covering our faces, not a fun task.
But you’re still hot even wearing a mask!

Even with your nose stuffed with a long swab,
Valentine you make my heart throb!

Christie Mitchell from Milton:
Roses are Red, Violets are blue,
This is corny, let’s start anew

We met in a bar, drank way too much
Romance, true love, or maybe lust

Forward 4 years it became real, put a ring on it & sealed the deal
We made it work thru thick & thin, ask me today I’d do it again

Dawn Thurston from Swanton:

Roses are red, Violets are blue,
single on Valentine’s Day with nothing to do

I’d call a friend who’s in the same boat
And ask her to join me in this happy note.

Who needs a man when a friend will do
Who takes you as you are and appreciates what you do!!!

Laura Weber from Essex Junction:

Roses are Red, Violets are blue
Daffodils, yellow-And sunflowers too.

Daisies are cute, And lilac’s smell sweet
You were the one I was happy to meet

Colorful gardens, white clouds, and the sun-
Springtime is colorful, muddy, and fun!

Thanks to everyone who submitted an entry—keep listening for more chances to win!
