Following an announcement from Keith Richards and Gibson, the two have unveiled a custom electric guitar modeled after Richards’ own 1960 ES-355. The instrument recreates the guitar he has relied on for decades, both on stage and in the studio.
As revealed by Gibson, Richards was closely involved in the development of the model, which reflects the original guitar’s worn-in feel, hardware choices, and distinctive finish. The ES-355 has long been associated with Richards’ work in The Rolling Stones, appearing across multiple tours and recording sessions.
The release comes through Gibson’s Custom Shop and is presented as a limited production run. Each guitar is built to mirror the specifications of Richards’ original instrument rather than offering a modern reinterpretation. The launch continues Gibson’s recent focus on historically accurate artist collaborations, aimed at preserving the design details of guitars tied to influential moments in rock music history.
